nestboxes

I have managed to put up one or two nestboxes, hoping that if we make the birds welcome they will help keep the insect pests down later on.
There is now a new path filled with bark chippings right down to the poultry pens. Thanks, Prince's Trust!
We lost one fruit tree from the cold, but I think the others will recover.

The duck eggs were sold in 10 minutes today, people like them for scrambling and cooking, though some say a bit rich for boiling.

After the thaw

The Green Patch looked very pretty in the snow, though on Sunday I had to dig out the doors to the polytunnels to get in. As soon as the snow thawed we had a flooding problem, the usual natural spring + melting ice. Nicky and others dug some ditches and now they're putting in a drainage system. The raised beds were not affected. There's a lot planted in the second tunnel, thanks to the team from Rothersthorpe.
The Prince's Trust came down to lend a hand last week, and spread the bark chippings for us. and Tresham looked after the ducks and hens. Congratulations to all those who fed them during the freeze! The ducks are laying really well.
